Greece introducing Presumption of Shared Parenting

As of this Autumn, Greek Courts will enforce a presumption of shared care when families break down. They refer to the English system of “resident and non resident parent” as “antiquated”. I would go a step further and say that it is discrimination pure and simple. We talk about institutional racism being unacceptable; why is this institutional discrimination acceptable? It is not just that it lurks like a canker in the system like racism; courts actively enforce it. We have enshrined this discrimination at Law. And we tolerate it every day. The standard you accept is the standard that you walk past. Please please don’t walk past this. I am just advising on a case where the Lay Justices (Magistrates) gave someone a 1 year non-molestation order ex parte. That means they heard NO evidence from the other side. Just one side’s untested statement. So no seeing the kids just on the word of the mother. Nice.

And just before anyone kicks off at me about Racism, I am “a person of colour” (ghastly phrase).
